FAQs
When will I get my order?
-My processing time varies depending on the time of year and my current workload. My updated processing time is listed at the top of this website and does not include shipping time. I will keep you updated throughout the process so you know when to expect your order!
What kind of Aida do you use for your stockings?
-The cuffs are made from 14 count cotton Aida in white, (I also have off white BY REQUEST). The cuffs are completely finished with no raw edges, but left open at the bottom so YOU can do the cross-stitching yourself.
The Aida I use is a little on the stiffer side, which is the way I personally prefer it because I don't need to use a hoop!
I want to stitch the name myself, is that okay?
-Yep! All of my stockings are blank so that you can do the stitching yourself.
I want you to stitch the name for me, where do I find that info?
-I'd love to personalize your stocking for you! Find out how in this listing HERE.
How are your stockings made?
-Your chosen fabric is layered with cotton/poly blend batting and quilted using my professional longarm quilting machine. Then I sew the quilted fabric into a stocking shape and add the aida cuff and lining.
Can you make a stocking to match the ones I already have, even if they are a little different from the stockings in your shop or have a very specific color scheme?
-Most likely! Check out my Stocking Upgrades page HERE.
Why can't you make my Original style stocking with print edges?
-The Original stocking is a little taller and requires just a little more fabric than the Charles stocking, so there usually isn't enough left over to make a binding for the cuff. HOWEVER, depending on the fabric you choose, I may have more. Reach out to me if you are hoping to order an Original style stocking with print edges and I can check my inventory.
Why are your stockings quilted? How does this make them different from some of the other stockings I can find online? Also, what does "quilting" mean?
-"Quilting" refers to the decorative stitching you see on the outside of your stocking. It is there to hold together the outer fabric and the batting (this part is on the inside between the outer fabric and the lining fabric - you won't see it). I use cotton batting in my stockings to make them thicker/sturdier and help them hold their shape. The quilting also serves as a decorative element on the outside of your stocking.
What is the stitchable area of the cuff? Will my cross stitch pattern fit?
-Original Stocking Measures Approximately 17 x 10 inches
Charles Stocking Measures Approximately 15 x 9.5 inches
Cuffs Measure Approximately 4.5 x 8 inches
(Stitch-able area is approximately 4 x 7 inches - roughly 60 x 100 stitches)
What is the difference between the Original style and the Charles style?
-The Original is a little taller and skinnier. It was designed by me and comes with a straight cuff. The Charles is a little shorter and fatter - similar in size and shape to an older style of stockings that are no longer available for purchase elsewhere. It comes with a curved cuff.
Are these stockings machine washable?
-Yes! Washing recommendations: Hand wash with mild soap. Blot dry to prevent any color bleeding. Air dry until just damp. Cover with a clean cloth and use a hot iron to smooth out any wrinkles.
Are the stockings reversible?
-Yes! The Aida cuff wraps around the front and the back, so you can hang your stockings with the toes facing either right or left.
Do you recommend any cross stitch patterns for the cuffs?
-Of course! I have an entire collection of patterns that are designed specifically to be the perfect size for these cuffs. The motif designs even come in two sizes - just in case your name is really long and you don't have a lot of extra space. Check them out HERE.
